EP 4: You are not meant to be broken.
Have you ever thought about the fact that you as an individual are NOT that different than someone born... 30K years ago?!
As counter-intuitive as it might sound to our modern sensibilities, this is essentially true. Evolution is a sloowww process so we have not changed that much since then, neither physiologically nor emotionally.
We humans have been roaming this earth for millions of years (!), and some of us started to become sedentary only in the last, oh, 12K or so years.
During that vast span of evolution, our bodies evolved in a world that is WILDLY different than the one in which we live today.
But guess what? Our bodies and psyches did NOT get the memo about the modern reality. They were actually still expecting to be born into that old environment!
Today I talk about the evolutionary perspective, which is the framework that allowed me to make so much sense of the world, in particular human health and happiness, and continues to influence me today.
You may be surprised why you feel the way you do (it's millions of years of evolution VS our modern reality!) and why there are absolutely ways to give yourself what you've been missing.
And when you start to understand WHY, it makes it so much easier to actually start feeling better, giving us a framework for taking better care of ourselves, our families and our world.
